“Shubman Gill is not an opener should bat in middle order just like VVS Laxman”: Former Indian Selector

Former India selector Gagan Khoda has stated that Shubman Gill is not an opener and should bat in the middle-order as he more like VVS Laxman.

The statement from the former India cricketer comes after India lost the World Test Championship (WTC) final by 8 wickets versus New Zealand on Wednesday. Gill scored 36 runs (28 and 8) in the historic match.

Khoda further added that Mayank Agarwal should have opened for India at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

“It was not meant to be like this. Shubman Gill isn’t an opener. He is like VVS Laxman, he should bat in the middle-order. India should have picked Mayank Agarwal, who had only two bad Test matches. Even Prithvi Shaw was shown the door after just one failure in Australia,” Khoda told Sportskeeda.

Gagan Khoda also reckoned that Ravindra Jadeja was under bowled and a specialist batsman or a pace-bowling all-rounder could have played ahead of him for a better balance in the playing XI.

“India could have taken an extra batsman or a fast bowler who can bat. Someone like Shardul Thakur could have done the trick,” Khoda said.

However, after the conclusion of the match India captain Virat Kohli had said that the lack of a fast-bowling all-rounder meant India went in with their most experienced XI.

“You need to have a fast-bowling all-rounder for that. We’ve been successful with this combination in different conditions. We thought this was our best combination, and we had batting depth as well, and if there was more game time, the spinners would have come into the game more as well,” Kohli had said.

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
