New smartphone Google Pixel 5a to be launched in India soon: Check features
Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 5a sometime in August this year. Ahead of the rumored launch, the Pixel 5a was spotted on the FCC with two model numbers. The listing hints that the upcoming mid-ranger by Google will be launched with two different variants. One could be specific to North America while the other will be available to the rest of the world. The affordable Google device will come with 5G support but may carry the same processor as its predecessor, the Google Pixel 4a.
Noted tipster CS Stark had shared the FCC listings on Twitter. The smartphone was spotted with model numbers G1F8F, GR0M2, and G4S1M. One out of the three model numbers listed on FCC will be region-specific and may come with CDMA for the US region, the other two models will come without CDMA support. The listing does not reveal much about the specifications of the smartphone. It is however rumoured to launch the device in August this year. The Google Pixel 4a launched in August 2020 last year so if we go by trends, the launch is a couple of weeks away.
Google has not revealed its plan of launching the device in India, but a publication had earlier spotted the device on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Google Pixel 5a: Expected specifications
As far as the features are concerned, previous leaks have suggested that the Google Pixel 5a, which in all likelihood would be an affordable device, will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC coupled with 4GB and 6GB RAM options and up to 128GB storage. The Pixel 4a is also powered by the same processor, so it is unclear whether Google will upgrade the processor in the Pixel 5a.
The rumoured smartphone is expected to feature a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a high refresh rate of 90Hz. The reports suggest that the Google Pixel 5a will run on Android 12 out of the box, it will be the first Android device to do so.
In terms of optics, the smartphone is expected to feature dual-lens consisting of a 12.2-megapixel primary lens and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. A punch-hole selfie shooter is expected to grace the display. In the battery department, the Pixel 5a is expected to come with a bigger 3840 battery with support for fast charging.
