Bihar schools reopening for Classes 9 to 12 from August 7

Bihar schools are reopening for Classes 9 to 12 along with colleges and coaching institutions from August 7. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the news of educational institutions reopening with 50% capacity on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the functioning of schools and other educational institutions will be issued today. All stakeholders will be expected to follow the Covid-19 safety protocols and SOPs to ensure the safety of all.

Bihar schools and colleges reopening: Highlights

  • Bihar schools will reopen for Classes 9 to 12 with 50% capacity from August 7
  • All colleges, universities and technical education institutions will also operate from August 7 with 50% of attendance
  • Bihar schools will reopen for Classes 1 to 8 from August 16 with 50% capacity
  • All educational institutions will need to ensure proper sanitisation of classrooms and other areas
  • Attendance to schools and colleges are not compulsory and so, online classes will continue as usual
  • Coaching institutions which tend to students above Class 10 may also reopen and operate with 50% capacity. Only vaccinated students would be allowed to attend.
  • Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Residential School and Karpuri Hostels will also be allowed to reopen and accept admissions, as per the state order
  • Competitive exams for appointment/admissions/selection to various professional courses of the state will also resume in Bihar. These are courses that are run by state government commissions, boards and other equivalent institutions
  • The state health department will make special arrangements for vaccination of adult students, teachers and staff of educational institutions

Education department and disaster management authority to collaborate

The Bihar education department will collaborate with the Bihar disaster management authority to share more information about Covid-19 safety behaviours such as social distancing, wearing masks, etc. so that children can be informed about them properly.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
