Improved version of Maruti Suzuki Alto spied ahead of launch

Spy images of some early prototypes of what seems like the next generation of the Maruti Suzuki Alto hatchback have surfaced online. The Alto has been due for a generation change, given that this generation of the Alto has been around since 2012, with feature changes and facelifts carrying it through so far. Despite the SUV boom, the Alto continues to remain a strong seller for Maruti Suzuki. The entry-level hatchback was among the top five bestselling cars in India for August 2021 with a strong presence in non-metro markets.

The images don’t reveal any real detail about the looks of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto but it can be expected to switch to Maruti Suzuki’s newer Heartect architecture. A version of this platform derived from the S-Presso  can be expected. This should lead to larger exterior dimensions and a roomier cabin. The styling of the new Alto should see notable revisions too with more contemporary design cues.

The new Alto should come with more features aside from changes like a new dashboard and instrumentation. The current Maruti Alto’s 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, front power windows, central locking, steering mounted controls and so on. 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto engines, gearbox

The 2022 Alto should carry over the same set of engine and gearbox combinations as the current car. It comes powered by a 796cc three-cylinder motor that makes 48PS at 6,000 rpm and 69 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The CNG version puts out 41PS at 6,000 rpm and 60 Nm at 3,500 rpm. Both come paired with a five-speed manual. The ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figure for the current petrol Alto is 22.05 kmpl while the CNG is rated at 31.59 km/kg. A more powerful K10 version with the 1.0-litre motor making 68PS and 90Nm should follow later. The larger engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto should see a Rs 30,000 to 40,000 increase in prices over the current version. The Alto is priced from Rs 3.15 lakh and tops out at Rs 4.82 lakh.

Improved version of Hyundai Creta launched in Indian market: Check it out here

Hyundai India launched the much-awaited Creta Knight Edition in the country at a starting price of Rs 13.51 lakh (ex-showroom, all-India). In addition to this, the company has also introduced a model-year update for the Hyundai Creta with new feature additions.

The 2022 Hyundai Creta is now available in a new Denim Blue colour option and the Highline TPMS is now standard across all variants. The SX (O) trim now also gets a glossy black centre console. Furthermore, the company will offer the iMT option on the 1.5-litre petrol ‘S’ variant to further expand choices for the customers. The new S+ variant powered by a 1.4-litre T-GDi petrol engine with 7DCT now gets an additional set of features, such as –

– Smart panoramic sunroof

– 16-inch black alloy wheels

– Smartphone wireless charger

– Rear Disc Brakes

– Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

– Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)

– Hill start assist control (HAC)

– Paddle shifters

– Metal pedals

– Electric and auto-folding ORVMs

– Power window auto up/down

Mechanically, the SUV continues to be powered by the existing petrol and diesel engine options.
