Lucknow: Lucknow Municipal Corporation has prepared its action plan ahead of the Swachh Bharat Survey (SBS) under which a team deployed by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA) will visit the city in March to inspect and give marks under the parameter of ‘Service Level Progress’ and ‘Certification’. As per the guidelines issued by MOHUA, cities will be evaluated under three parameters instead of four. However, total marks will remain the same as compared to 2020.

Unlike SBS 2020, which had four parameters Citizen Feedback (1,500 marks), Certification (1,500 marks), Direct observation (1,500) and Service level progress (1,500). The ministry has decided to do away the parameter of Direct observation. For 2021, the parameters include Citizen Feedback (1,800 marks), Service Level Progress (2,400 marks) and Certification (1,800 marks). However, all cities will be evaluated from marks totaling 6,000.

With the parameter direct observation removed from the survey, MOHUA has added one more protocol (Water Plus) under the parameter of Service level progress. As per LMC officials, the protocol aims to sustain toilets by treating and reuse of water. It also contributes to the government’s focus on water conversation and reuse under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.

Municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi said, “A team hired by the union ministry will visit Lucknow in the month of March to certify the claims made by us under Water Plus protocol and ODF under Service Level Progress and Certification respectively. I also urge citizens to give their response under Citizens Feedback parameter to make us achieve the number one spot.”

In SBS 2021, Lucknow will compete against 52 other cities having a population of more than 10 lakh.  Some of the cities include Mumbai, Chennai, Indore, Ahemdabad, Pune, Surat, Visakhapatnam and Prayagraj.

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
