‘Leave it to the BCCI, we will deal with it’: Sourav Ganguly reacts to Virat Kohli’s explosive statements
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Thursday dodged questions on Virat Kohli after the former ODI captain made some startling revelations in the media a day before.
Ganguly had said that he personally spoke to Kohli when he was deciding to step down as the T20I captain and urged him to carry on with the job but the star cricketer refused to continue.
Kohli however, claimed on Wednesday that no such conversation took place between him and any official of the board which has now led to a furore and confusion in the Indian cricketing fraternity.
Ganguly, when asked about Kohli’s comments, refused to speak on the controversy after being hounded by reporters.
“I have got nothing to say. We will deal with it, leave it to the BCCI,” the former India captain said.
The top brass of the BCCI is not in agreement with Kohli’s claims and is in a huddle to come up with a response strategy, India Today has learnt.
BCCI is of course anguished but the board is in a very tricky situation, sources have said.
On one hand, if they come out in open and say that Kohli’s claims are not true, it paints a bad picture about the skipper to the fans and other stakeholders of the sport. On the other hand, if they remain silent, it would appear that the board mistreated the captain.
Even as the controversy rages on, Virat Kohli and his Test team departed for their South Africa tour in a chartered plane from Mumbai on Thursday morning.
Kohli will lead the Test team in a series of 3 matches from December 26 while Rohit, who has been ruled out of the red-ball games due to a hamstring injury, will captain the ODI side if he gets fit before January 19.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story
The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.
In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).
The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.
The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.
In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.
The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
