England and former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Sam Curran on Saturday confirmed that he won’t be part of the IPL 2022 mega auction, set to be held on February 12 and 13. Curran said he will focus on recovering completely from a back injury that kept him out of the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.
Sam Curran was not retained by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the mega auction as the defending champions went for MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja as their four picks. Curran has been an integral member of their squad since joining the side from Punjab Kings in IPL 2020.
Curran has played 32 matches in the IPL, scoring 337 runs at a strike rate of close to 150 and picked up 32 wickets.
Curran said he is hoping to resume competitive action with Surrey during the English summer.
“It was agreed that sadly I should not enter the IPL auction this year and to focus on my rehabilitation. I’m back in the nets and feeling great so hope to be back soon, Wishing everyone all the best for the tournament. I look forward to starting the season with,” he added.
IPL 2022 will have 10 teams with the inclusion of new teams from Ahmedabad and Lucknow. On Saturday, the BCCI said as many as 1214 players, including 896 Indians and 318 overseas, registered for the IPL 2022 auction.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah, after a virtual meeting with the franchise owners, said that the board is working towards hosting the IPL 2022 in India. However, he added that the board will work towards coming up with a plan B to make sure the tournament doesn’t get affected by the evolving Covid-19 situation.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story
The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.
In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).
The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.
The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.
In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.
The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
