Tata takes over Air India, Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia congratulated the Tata group
Minister of State for Civil Aviation of India Jyotiraditya Scindia congratulated the Tata group on officially acquiring Air India. He said, “Not only I, but the civil aviation fraternity and people of India at large all stand to gain from the culmination of the very very long process that has been in the making for over two decades. I’m extremely happy that we have culminated this transaction.”
“I wish them all the very best, they have all the required talent and strategy element to make this a success…May they fly high,” Jyotiraditya Scindia said.
Jyotiraditya Scindia also lauded the Narendra Modi-led government for its initiative and determination. “It is only because of the resolve and determination of our prime minister [Narendra Modi] that this process has actually seen the light of day,” he said.
“It’s a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and his initiative that the responsibility of the government is not be in bussiness, but instead to create and environment for business to flourish,” Jyotiraditya Scindia said.
Jyotiraditya Scindia’s comments came a day after the Tata Group took over Air India, nearly 69 years after it was taken from the Mumbai-based conglomerate.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekharan took over the administration of Air India on Thursday. The airline is now officially owned by Talace, a subsidiary of the Tata Group’s holding company.
The complete payment of Rs 2,700 crore was received by the government, following which it transferred the shares, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey said.
Air India was started by the Tata Group in 1932. However, after the country got independence, the airline was nationalised in 1953 by the then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
