Costa Rican Navas happy to be with Spain’s Real Madrid
San Jan Jose: Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas late Monday said he is very happy to be with Spain’s Real Madrid, after he was near to leave the team just some weeks ago, the media reported.
“Things are going well. I am very happy because people value my work and it is an honor to be part of this club,” Navas was quoted as saying.
Navas was close to moving English Premier League club Manchester United, but the transfer was not successful despite the interest of Real Madrid in replacing the Costa Rican goalkeeper with David De Gea, currently in the English club, a news agency reported.
It seems this situation did not make any difference in Navas’ good opinion of Real Madrid. Even more, the Costa Rican goalkeeper is close to breaking the 370-minute non-goal streak of the Spanish team.
Navas is just at 10 minutes of breaking Spanish Iker Casillas’ record. He might achieve this next Wednesday in the match against Athletic de Bilbao.
“When I was a kid my dream was to be here, I am pleased to be part of Real Madrid’s history. Hard work has rewards and is the path that leads us to achieve great things,” said Navas.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
