CBSE results: Sukriti Gupta emerges topper followed by Palak Goel

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examination results have been declared. Pass percentage of girls for CBSE class 12 results is 88.58 per cent, and pass percentage of boys is 78.85 per cent. Overall pass percentage of Thiruvananthapuram region in Kerala is highest in the country with 97.61 per cent.

This year, a total of 10,67,900 candidates have registered for the Class 12 exam as against 10,40,368 in 2015. The CBSE exams started from March 1, 2016 and concluded on April 22. Delhi Girl Sukriti Gupta has topped the CBSE Class XII board exams with 99.4 per cent. Gupta, a student of Montfort School, Ashok Vihar, scored 497 marks out of 500.

At second position is Palak Goel from Tagore Public School in Kurukshetra, Haryana with 496 marks. The third position has been shared by Somy Uppal from St Theresa’s Convent School in Haryana’s Karnal and Ajish Sekar from PSBB Senior Secondary School, Chennai. They both have scored 495 marks.

Many students complained that the Mathematics paper was tough this year. There were also reports about the paper being leaked. Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani on May 17 said the results of CBSE Board exams for Class 10 and 12 will be declared “on time” before the end of this month and, as per a decision taken earlier, state boards are also expected to declare their results by May 31.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
