POLIO IMMUNIZATION IN LUCKNOW

Allahabad: A meeting was held under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer and in-charge District Magistrate Atal Kumar Rai to review that preparations pertaining to the pulse polio immunity drive, which would continue till June 3.

ANMs, ASHA workers and aanganwaadi workers would be visiting various households to administer polio drops to the children in the age group of 0 to 5 years. The target this time is to reach to 9,33,725 kids. Of this; 7,6091 reside in rural areas, while the rest of 1,72,809 belong to urban areas.

For the first day (May 29), as many as 3337 booths have been created, while in the entire drive, 1863 teams have been made.

The total number of persons, who would actually vaccinate stands at 10,011, and the headcount of supervisors stands at 628. Apart from this, 67 mobile teams have also been formed.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
